Our Story

Lannock Farm has a long and fascinating history as part of the parish of Weston.

The mission today is to farm as regeneratively as possible, with the aim of improving soil health, increasing biodiversity and water quality whilst creating a place where people and ideas can thrive.

Our story so far

Lannock’s history dates back as far as 1148, when Gilbert de Clare granted the land to the Knights Templar. It came into the Pryor family in the late Victorian era, and today, six generations later, their legacy continues through careful stewardship of the land.

Brothers John and Paul Cherry have farmed in Weston for nearly 40 years. Inspired by the no-till movement in the USA, they ditched the plough in 2012 to create a more regenerative farming system that increases biodiversity with soil health as priority. Inspired by the positive direction of this movement, Paul’s son Alex left his London job and came back to the farm in 2016 to help launch Groundswell.

For ten years the Farm has proudly hosted the annual Groundswell Regenerative Farming Festival. What began in the barns at Lannock has grown into a global gathering of more than 10,000 farmers, sharing knowledge and inspiring ideas for nature-friendly farming.

In 2025, generational changes led to the division of the Weston Estate between Paul and John Cherry. Lannock Farm remains with Paul, while Irongate Farm is now run by John. With the next generation stepping forward and diverse management across the farms, Weston parish is alive with interesting farming enterprises.

On the arable part of the farm, Lannock is growing combinable crops in a mixed rotation, adhering to the principles of regenerative agriculture. Increasing biodiversity and soil health are priorities with woodland and pasture management an important part of the holistic plan for the landscape.

Work started on the conversions of the Lannock Farm building in 2019. The first resident business, Crossover Blendery helped to kickstart the community producing spontaneously fermented beer. In a collaborative effort with George and Charlie we planted over 800 trees in an agroforestry field to supply fruit to flavour the barrels for years to come.

We now welcome a dozen resident enterprises on the farm, all with a connection to food, drink, wellness or creativity.

In 2024, Lannock Larder opened its doors, offering produce directly from the farm. We’re especially proud of our pasture-raised eggs, laid by our flock of 800 free-roaming hens. Our aim is to cut out the middleman and give the local community access to truly local, high-quality food. The offering will continue to evolve as the farm introduces more enterprises and welcomes trusted new suppliers, it’s open seven days a week, from 8am to 5pm.

The latest addition to the farm is the Lannock Butchery, open Thursday through Sunday. As a whole-carcass butchery, Joey, our talented butcher, can cut meat to your exact requirements. We’re delighted to offer pasture-fed beef raised on the meadows of Weston, along with a selection of other meats from trusted local farms. Get in touch to place your order today!
